MEDICAID TRANSPORTATION

Medicaid patients may be eligible for reimbursement to and from non-emergency medical appointments.  Non-emergent means routine or scheduled appointments.  

Payment is made on a reimbursement basis only.  In order to receive reimbursement the following must be provided after every appointment:

In order to receive reimbursement all means of free transportation must have been exhausted.

The county will reimburse for appointments occurring during the current plus 2 prior months.

Patient must be present in the vehicle for the driver to be reimbursed (i.e. hospital admissions and discharges).

The deadlines for requests for reimbursements are the 15th (if a holiday or weekend then the previous business day) and the last business day of each month.  Checks will be mailed on the 15th (if a holiday or weekend, then the following business day) and the last business day of each month.  The check will be issued to the driver.

Requests for reimbursement are accepted at the Otero County Courthouse, Room 102.
